Number 2 The Old Brewhouse is a cosy, grade II listed cottage, which has been converted to a high standard throughout. Located in the beautiful riverside village of Dittisham, South Hams Devon, the cottage adjoins the historic quayside on the river Dart . The village has two public houses which both have good menus at reasonable prices. For special occasions visit the splendid ‘Anchorstone’ fish restaurant.
The village also has a well-stocked shop and post office.
The cottage has two double and one single bedrooms, ( the doubles commanding far reaching views along the river Dart towards ‘Greenway’ the former country home of Agatha Christie). The kitchen is fitted with washer/dryer, fridge, oven and dishwasher and there is internet access and a woodburner for those chilly evenings. There is an outside shower for rinsing wet suits and muddy paws!
The area offers a wealth of activities for all ages: the river is perfect for sailing, canoing, kayaking and paddle boarding all of which can be hired from the quayside. The surfing beach at Bantham is only about 20 minutes away.
For the little ones, there is crabbing from the pontoon on the quayside, a playground on the Ham and Woodlands Family Theme Park is only 4 miles away. Paignton Zoo is about 40 minutes across the river . We recommend a trip on the steam railway from Dartmouth which runs along the Dart valley.
There are beautiful local walks and a regular boat service from Dittisham quay to the port of Dartmouth which is 6 miles away. Dartmouth is a stunning coastal port with riverside promenade , historic castle and good eateries.
Dittisham and Dartmouth have some of the most amazing walks with stunning views. Head out and venture or take a look for some local trails that may be interesting to you.
There is a small Boat Hire & Sailing School close by if you want to head out on the eater or learn a new skill. They offer fun days, BBQ’s and Paddleboarding… A great way to see the local area.
Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is a conservation and education charity located a few miles from Dittisham, they have around 2500 species! Its a great family day out.
Yes, we do accept up to 2 dogs. We ensure that the house is fully cleaned before your stay to ensure that any dog hair is cleaned up for the next guests. We just ask for a mutual respect of our home.
Dittisham is a family friendly place, we accept every type of family! Again, we just ask for a mutual respect and respect of the neighbours. But, yes we accept babies and toddlers.
There are two car parks in the village at the ‘Ham’ or on the ‘Levels’. We will provide a parking permit for one car with each booking which allows you to use either car park.
